So God created man in His own image, in the image of
God created He him; male and female created He them. (Gen.1:27)
In what ways do we see God's image and godlike in man whom
he has created?
Theologians have for centuries debated how far that image
permeates our lives, but there are certain areas of common
agreement.
The image is found not in man's body the shell of clay, but
in his soul and spirit, that forms the godly part embedded
in the body. At the time of death the spirit of man returns
to God who gave it (Eccl. 12:7, Job 34:14,15) where as the
body goes back to dust (Gen. 3:19) from where it was formed.
This image and likeness of God in man is expounded in Eph.
4:24, where it is written that man was created after God in
righteousness and true holiness, and man is endowed with several
qualities that are not in other creations.
Man got ability to create
Like the creator God, man can think, imagine, and by his wisdom
can create new things that never existed before.
Spirit of God dwells in man.
Gen.3:8-13 He can communicate each other and also with his
Creator God, but no other creations have this privilege. The
Holy Spirit seals God's ownership of His people (Eph. 4:30).
Jesus told the woman of Samaria that God is Spirit,
and His worshipers must worship in spirit and truth
(John 4: 24). Man can communicate, glorify and worship God
in Spirit. Paul confirmed, He that speaketh in an unknown
tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God... (1 Cor.
14:2).
Man reflects God in his characteristic
Just as God is rational, moral, and has the ability to make
free decision based on his reasons and conscience, so also
we see those qualities in the people He has created. Self-awareness,
self-sacrifice, intimacy, companionship, creativity-all these
human traits to one degree or other testify to the creator
that confe rred them. Job recognized that: there is
a spirit in man: and the inspiration (breath) of Almighty
giveth them understanding (Job 32:8)
Gen 1:28. Have dominion over all''. God the Creator
gave him dominion over all and is endowed him with the power
of dominion over all and also stewards of this world with
sovereignty over other creations.
Gen. 11:6 (b) Ability to create and evaluate
Like the creator God, man can think, imagine, and by his wisdom
can do and create new things that never existed before. Man
is the only creature who has a moral sense, ability to recognize
something as good or bad, feeling the impact of conscience
upon hisown actions.
Personality of man
God is a person, and each of us has a personality unlike any
other person's. In the expression of that personality, each
of us reflects an infinitestimal portion of the person of
God.
Man is Precious in God' sight
St. John declared:-For God so loved the world that he
gave his only begotten Son Jn.3:16.
St. Paul wrote:-Christ died for all, no longer live for themselves
but for Him .... ''2 Cor.5:15
Jesus Christ said:- But the very hairs of your head
are all numbered.....Fear ye not . -Mt. 10: 29-31.
So precious is this Divine Image in man that it deserves due
protection. And the Lord said unto Cain ...... what
hast thou done? The voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto
me from the ground -Gen.4:10.
whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood
be shed; for in the image of God has made man - Gen.9:6.
The divine image that bestowed by the Creator God on us gives
us more value and importance than all other creations. His
ownership is bestowed upon us and we are stamped by the Creator
God, with His image and likeness.
His birth, death, resurrection was for man
The incarnation was for the salvation of the lost mankind.
Christ opened a new way through His sacrifice on the cross.
I am the way' who so ever believes on Him have everlasting
life.
His second coming is for man
Jesus told, I go to prepare a place for you'' .... I will
come again and receive you to myself; that there I am, there
you may be also. (John. 14:1,20). Behold I am coming
quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy
of this book'' (Rev. 22:7). His people also will appear with
Him in glory. The Bible closes with the victory of Christ
and His people. Behold He is coming with clouds...''
John at Patmos saw The Holy City, New Jerusalem coming
down out of heaven from God.. Behold, the tabernacle of God
is with men, and they shall be His people and God Himself
will be with them and be their God. Will you be among
the great multitude clothed with the white robs, with palm
branches in their hands, worshiping before the Lamb?
